About Us

Mission StatementSRP is a professional and learned society that was founded in 1963 and was incorporated by Royal Charter in 2007. Our Royal Charter states that the object of the Society is to “promote the science and art of radiation protection and allied fields for the public benefit”To this end we will:

  • Promote, advance and disseminate, to the public advantage, knowledge of radiation protection
  • Encourage, support and advance education and learning in radiation protection
  • Promote high professional standards for the public benefit

Strategic Plan 2013 - 2018

It is timely for the Society to embrace a new Strategic Plan to guide its activities for the next 5 years. The new plan was publicised at the Annual Conference in Harrogate and is now available to view here. The Strategic Plan is made up of the following Goals:

  1. Goal 1: Ensure the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Society
  2. Goal 2: Establish an Outreach Programme for Schools, Employers and the Public.
  3. Goal 3: Evaluate and develop the Society’s involvement in Radiation Protection training
  4. Goal 4: Raise the international profile of the Society
  5. Goal 5 Provide support to young professionals in the development of their career in radiation protection
  6. Goal 6: Maximise the opportunities that Chartered Status brings
  7. Goal 7: Promote a strong radiation protection culture in the UK
