We currently operate with four fully qualified Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA) and two assistant RPAs. Four members of staff are also Radioactive Waste Advisers (RWA). To supplement this we also employ one full time Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) whose to support our clients at their sites during busy work periods. Our RPAs have a combined work experience of over 50 years and although our primary focus is the provision of radiation protection services to the Oil and Gas sector, we also provide radiation services to the waste management industry, NDT companies, the healthcare sector e.g. hospitals, vets and dentists, and teaching and laboratory facilities. This ability to draw experience from a broad skills base has allowed us to transfer and share new ideas between clients which satisfy the most stringent Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Our work is manly in the UK but also Angola, Brazil, Iraq and other African countries.
We also provide training for people working with ionising radiation particularly working with NORM/XRF and road/sea transport of Class 7 goods.
We can manage any radionuclide in any physical form, whether VLLW, LLW or even ILW. We provide the complete solution: from consultation, packaging and transportation to disposal or recycling.
With our purpose built Permitted facility, investment in new technologies and more waste streams than any other UK based commercial organisation, we can assist you with the safe and legal management of your radioactive materials, whilst working closely with all key regulatory bodies.
We pride ourselves in finding solutions for those 'difficult' wastes and have new and exciting developments coming on stream all the time.
ACB has a commitment to protect the earth's natural environment for future generations by minimising the impact of both radioactive waste and associated wastes generated through the disposal process.
ACB, Innovators in Radioactive Material Management.
Aurora is the UK's leading radiation company for three key reasons:
1. We are the largest independent UK Company dedicated to radiation protection, and have more Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs), Radioactive Waste Advisers (RWAs), Laser Protection Advisers (LPAs) and Non-Ionising Radiation (NIR) Specialists, collectively than any other independent company.
2. We are the leading all-sectors company dedicated to providing radiation protection solutions across all sectors and for all needs.
3. We are a British company, owned and managed by its shareholder directors, so the responsibility and taxes stop here.
OUR SPECIALITIES INCLUDE
• Radiation Safety Consultancy
• Non-ionising Radiation Safety
• Radiation Safety Training
• Environmental Radiological Surveys
• Remediation and Decommissioning
• Radiation Facility Design and Testing
• Provision of Health Physics Personnel
Our measurement systems are available with a variety of advanced data loggers and PC software which can be configured for the required application. We provide turnkey monitoring solutions for specific applications such as PET, Proton Therapy, air stack release monitoring (including isokinetic extraction), and accelerators.
Certified to both ISO9001 and KTA1401 Berthold instrumentation has gained an enviable reputation for reliability and exceptional performance. All our products are supported by factory trained, UK based, technical engineers.
We have bespoke, highly secure, permitted facilities and unrivalled access for return to manufacturer and recycling facilities both domestically and internationally.
This unique combination of skills and infrastructure allows us to provide the complete radioactive management solution for all your needs including the characterisation, packaging, consignment, transport and disposal or recycling of radioactive liabilities.
You can be assured that your Duty of Care is fulfilled as Eckert & Ziegler Environmental Services Ltd's management system is certified to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. We are also fully active members of various safety organisations (RadSafe ,RoSPA, SRP, IOSH) and we only use our in-house experts who are fully qualified with their extensive experience gained largely from their backgrounds in the nuclear or source manufacturing industries.
We specialise in non-ionising radiation safety, and have experts who provide advice for static, low frequency and high frequency electromagnetic fields.
EMFcomp provides measurement services to confirm whether EMFs meet Action Levels (ALs) set in the EMF Directive. We also provide a computer modelling service to simulate the induced fields experienced inside humans, to directly compare with Exposure Limit Values (ELVs). We are the only organisation in the UK which can offer this complete service for low frequency and high frequency fields.
We also provide training, advice, risk assessments and guidance for EMF safety. As an author of the European Commission's 'Practical Guide for Implementing the EMF Directive' we are ideally placed to provide guidance to industry.
As well as our core business of shielded wall linings, door sets, lead glass control windows, x-ray screens and shielded cabinets Envirotect have recently expanded to include RF cages and magnetic interference shielding for MRI.
Our specialist range of products provides everything that is required to shield diagnostic and radiotherapy facilities such as MRI, CT, PET scanners, general x-ray, gamma camera, angiography, brachytherapy, fluoroscopy, dental and veterinary including equine.
From our Head Office which is situated in the UK Envirotect operate throughout Europe and internationally. All shielding products are bespoke and are manufactured at our UK factory with transportation to anywhere in the world.
An ISO 9001 certification recognises our commitment to the manufacturing and installation of our radiation and RF shielding products to the highest possible standards.
With our team of experienced personnel we are always on hand to offer advice at any stage of a project so please do not hesitate to contact us.

Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, which is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body of the Department of the Energy and Climate Change.
Whilst no sites have been selected, we cover all aspects of safety generically. Once a site has been selected, we will demonstrate that we can meet the regulators' requirements before they will permit us to operate a geological disposal facility.
We provide independent assessment of packaging for higher activity radioactive waste in the UK. This ensures waste is passively safe for long-term storage and, ultimately, geological disposal of the wastes.
We actively seek open dialogue with people to enable them to understand our work.
All of our products are CE marked and we are a certified ISO-9001:2008 company, which reflects the high level of quality assurance and management that we provide at every stage of the supply process, whether a product is distributed on behalf of our trusted manufacturers or constructed in our UK facility.
