The EASR will come in to force later this year. The regulations create a procedural framework which will be used for the authorisation of environmental activities in Scotland, including for radioactive substances activities. They replace the system of registrations and authorisations in the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 and will also replace the High-activity Sealed Radioactive Sources and Orphan Sources Regulations 2005 and the Radioactive Substances Exemption (Scotland) Order 2011; they will also transpose the requirements of the 2013 Basic Safety Standards Directive. This one day SRP meeting will give you the opportunity to find out about the EASR, how SEPA plans to implement them, SEPA's expectations for transition to the new regulations and any new obligations on operators under the new regulations.
The draft programme is now available.
