When working with unsealed radioactive material, the dose and risk of the spread of contamination needs to be demonstrated to be ALARP. This also helps with demonstration of applying Best Available Techniques (BAT) in radioactive waste minimisation. The webinar was an introduction to the basics of contamination control starting with radiation risk assessment as a basis and covering suggestions for design to limit spread

Presenter - John Bradshaw (AWE)
John Bradshaw is one of the RPA’s working at AWE and is currently working as the RP Lead on AWE’s New Build projects providing input as the RP intelligent customer. John has 30 year’s experience as a Health Physicist and RPA at UKAEA Harwell and AWE Aldermaston and is also a member of the RWA Body. He occasionally supports AWE’s Internal Regulation function, for example as part of the peer review of the Sites’ Safety Cases for AWE (A) and AWE(B).  He’s contributed to the IRPCG Guidance documents either commenting or writing and has spoken at the Cambridge Summer School on Decommissioning and Waste Management. He’s standing down as the Chair of the SRP Events Committee and in 2020 received the award of Honorary Fellow by SRP.
