The Rising Generation Group (RGG) held their first event of this kind, 'Challenges in your Early Radiation Protection Career' in Birmingham. The event hosted a number of speakers from across the UK Nuclear enterprise covering a breadth of radiological protection (RP) topics, with presentations from a range of early career and experienced professionals.
Becky Varns, RGG Committee member who attended the event, said; "It was encouraging to see a diverse panel of speakers, providing the delegates with a broad experience across a range of technical areas and soft skills. There were four themed sessions through the day where a range of topics were discussed, including; imposter syndrome, diversity, neurodiversity, technical experience, emotional intelligence, portfolio advice and challenges working in RP. I would highly recommend this event for any person in their early RP career."
RGG events are an excellent opportunity for delegates to meet early career professionals and a wide range of experienced speakers. The talks and networking opportunities provide individuals with the opportunity to learn about new approaches, methodologies, techniques and/or approaches to technical or soft skills in RP. Thank you to all the speakers for sharing their knowledge and experience and thank you to all the delegates who attended.
