News Story from 16th Jul 2018
SRP President-Elect, Pete Bryant, attended the 51st Annual Conference of the Japanese Health Physics Society (JHPS) in Sapporo, Japan. Pete was invited as a guest of the JHPS and delivered the Keynote Lecture on Integration of Risks from Multiple Hazards into a Holistic ALARA Assessment. He also gave a talk on the UK RGG and IRPA YGN as part of the Young Professionals Session. In addition to the formal conference a number of discussions were held between Pete and the JHPS Executive Council to discuss the future collaborations with a particular emphasis on cross collaboration on technical topics such as communication of risk and safety culture, and working together to provide opportunities to develop young professionals in the field of Radiation Protection. Speaking about his trip Pete said; “I am honoured to have not only delivered the Keynote Lecture, but to have been given the opportunity to see the great work going on in the field of Radiation Protection in Japan. Over the last few years the SRP and JHPS have had a strong relationship built on collaboration and the sharing of ideas, and I believe this relationship will only continue to get stronger. I look forward to seeing what the JHPS and SRP can achieve together.” The photo with the flag below shows Pete Bryant with JHPS: Michiaki Kai (President), Hiroko Yoshida (IRPA Exec Council), Takatoshi Hattori (Chair, JHPS International Affairs Committee), Keiichi Akahane (Vice-Chair, JHPS International Affairs Committee), Sumi Yokoyama (Vice-Chair, JHPS International Affairs Committee) and Haruyuki Ogino (Member, JHPS International Affairs Committee, Recorder).
