SRP supports International Medical Physics Day

A team of STEM Ambassadors from Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham celebrated International Medical Physics Day on 7th November 2013 (Marie Curie’s birthday) at St Paul’s Girls School in Edgbaston, Birmingham. They demonstrated how to cope with radioactive contaminated patients in the Emergency Dept by having a “mock” incident, ultrasound imaging and radiotherapy treatment planning. Girls from Year 9 upwards spent the morning learning how Physics is used in the hospital and how varied a career in physics can be. They were particularly interested to read about the kind of jobs that young physicists do. SRP sent a package of display material to the event and is pleased to have provided support.
