We're celebrating Chartered Week 2026!
News Story from 23rd Feb 2026
Chartered Week is a national awareness week bringing together people and organisations across sectors to shine a light on Chartered registration and its impact in society today.
Running from 23 to 27 February, the continued theme for the inaugural week is Celebrating Trusted Professionals. It’s a great opportunity for us to recognise the work of our Chartered members whose conduct and commitment help to strengthen the public’s trust in our evolving profession.
"Chartered status is widely used as important recognition of an individual’s experience and expertise in their profession. It is backed up by Continuous Professional Development so retains its value throughout one’s career. The Society for Radiological Protection is keen to encourage as many of its members as possible to be able to become Chartered, Incorporated or Technical Radiation Protection Professionals. (CRadP, IRadP or TechRadP)." - Dr Chris Perks, Professional Standards Director.
The newly revived SRP Communications Committee will be active on social media throughout the week showcasing our talented community and the registration pathways available for our members. Please show your support by liking and sharing our posts. If you’re a Chartered member, please share your stories with us. We’re looking for volunteers to share your chartered voice with us, using the opening sentence: “Chartered status gave me …..” or “I aspire to be chartered because ….”. Alternatively, you can nominate an inspiring chartered professional you know to celebrate their contribution to the radiation protection profession; please email admin@srp-uk.org for the link to the survey to enter. The best submission received by 27 February will win a prize!
SRP President Professor Mike Wood kicks us off: "Chartered status gave me a trusted voice on environmental radiation protection and the communication of radiation risk, enabling me to provide expert advice and guidance around the world, from the Houses of Parliament and the United Nations to the local communities around Chornobyl and Fukushima."
