Chair of ICRP presents 2019 Dunster Lecture

Claire Cousins, Chair of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, gave this year's Dunster Lecture in the Opening Plenary Session of our 2019 Annual Conference in Scarborough yesterday.  Her presentation was entitled 'Forward through the Rearview Mirror: Reflections on 10 Years as ICRP Chair'. 

Dr Cousins was appointed a Consultant Radiologist in 1993 and was the Lead Vascular and Interventional Radiologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge from 2008, retiring in March 2016. She joined ICRP in 2001 as a member of Committee 3 (Radiological Protection in Medicine) and was appointed Chair of this Committee from 2005-09.  She was elected Chair of the Main Commission in 2009 and was recently re-elected for a third term (2017-21).

ICRP is an independent, international organisation established in 1928 with volunteer members from approximately 30 countries across 6 continents. These members represent the leading scientists and policy makers in the field.  ICRP has developed, maintained and elaborated the International System of Radiological Protection used worldwide as the common basis for standards, legislation, guidelines, programmes and practice.
